January 6: Feast of the Kings

5 February: Anniversary of the Constitution

March 19: Feast of St. Joseph

March 21: Birth of Benito Juárez

The week before Easter: Altar of Sorrows. There is different colorful altars setup in various locations in the city. Sometimes competitions are organized for them.



Easter: Solemn celebration. Procession/parade.

May 1: Labor Day.

May 3: Feast of the Holy Cross.

May 5: Party national civic day.

Commemoration of the Battle of Puebla of May 5, 1862. There is a traditional parade.

April-May: Fair. There are different exhibitions for industry, handicraft, agriculture and trade; Artistic and cultural events.

May 24: Feast of Our Lady of Defense or the Immaculate Conception. There is a solemn Mass in the cathedral, in the Altar of the Kings.

Corpus Christi: Feast of the Body of Christ. A solemn Mass is held in the atrium of the cathedral. People go to the market to buy The Parian "Panzones" or "Mules" made of cardboard.

June: Festival Mole Poblano. A contest is held throughout the four Sundays in June in the forecourt of Analco. After three rounds there is a grand finale in which the best recipe holder is rewarded with the prize.

July 16: Feast of the Virgen Carmen.

August: Festival of Chile in Nogada. After three rounds there is a grand finale in which the best recipe holder is rewarded the prize.

August 28: Feast of St. Augustine.

August 30: Feast of Santa Rosa.

15 and September of 16: Anniversary of the Mexican Independence from Spain. It is the day for the traditional "Grito" (Mexican shout). There are parades, music, fireworks and traditional dance presentations.

September to November: Festival Palafoxiano. It starts the last Friday of September and ends in November. It is a international festival that lasts nine weekends (Friday, Saturday and Sunday) with events of dance, music, drama, lectures, exhibitions of painting, photography, sculpture and so on.

October 4: Feast of St. Francis of Assisi.

October 12: Day of the Race.

November 1 and 2: Festival "Day of the Dead" and "All Saints". People put offerings of flowers and wreaths on loved ones graves and pray to celebrate their lives.

November 20: Anniversary of the Revolution.

December 12: Feast of the Virgin of Guadeloupe.

First day of December: Annual Arts and Crafts Fair. It takes place in the Puebla Fairgrounds.
